Workforce Solutions Alamo has received notice that the Texas Back to Work program has been extended.
Employers in the agency’s 12-county area can receive monetary incentives for hiring unemployed workers under a two-year, $15 million state program promoted by Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and funded by the Texas Legislature last session.

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst added his views to the continuing Washington D.C.-vs.-Texas dispute during a brief stop in San Angelo Thursday.
Talking about the controversial federal education funding bill that singled out Texas with special spending restrictions, Dewhurst said some schools in Texas may still be able to receive funding from the bill. He and Gov. Rick Perry say the Texas requirement in the bill conflicts with the Texas Constitution.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Concho Valley Republican Women will host Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst at a 11:30 a.m. luncheon on Thursday, Aug. 26 at San Angelo Country Club, 1609 Country Club Rd. Lunch will be $14 a plate. Reservations are required.

David Dewhurst threatening legal action against the federal government if the House upholds the measure in a critical vote next week.

Lt. Governor David Dewhurst today addressed the Texas Risk Mitigation Forum and urged all Texans to make preparations for the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season which began June 1. The season’s first major named storm, Tropical Storm Alex, is projected to become a hurricane and potentially impact communities in coastal and south Texas. Heavy rains, high winds and possible flooding could result along the Texas coast and inland.

The Texas Workforce Commission and Workforce Solutions are offering $15 million in incentives to Texas employers for hiring out-of-work Texans which will help to pay the cost of wages and on-the-job training.
Under a two-year program promoted by Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and funded by the Texas Legislature, private employers can get $2,000 per hire for employing out-of-work individuals for at least 120 days.
