Texans can win this fight

Jan 08, 2013

Today, our state's 83rd Legislative Session starts with no shortage of challenges facing our state. Fortunately for conservatives like us, where others see challenges, Texans see opportunities.

This legislative session presents an opportunity for Texas to remain the most fiscally and socially conservative state in the country.

As your lieutenant governor, I promise that I will work tirelessly to make this the most conservative session in Texas history.

How can we accomplish this?

I'm committed to keeping Texas the complete opposite of Washington. We have challenges, but I'm committed to protecting your freedom and liberty, keeping spending low and balancing our budget without raising taxes. Texas' business and fiscal condition are number one, but to stay on top we need comprehensive public education reform, including more choice for parents, and development of more drinking water and highway capacity as our Texas population doubles the next 40-50 years.

These are just a handful of the issues that I will address. More importantly, I am asking for your help today. I need Texans like you to be involved in the process, to call my office, to send me feedback, and to express your thoughts and concerns through all of our channels including social media.

Because with your help – and only with your help - we will ensure the Lone Star State remains the brightest light of that "shining city on a hill."

For Texas,

David Dewhurst
