Officials of the University of Texas System have begun long-term planning for a medical school in the Rio Grande Valley.
William Powers, president of UT-Austin, said, "We've got to be out in front on this. South Texas needs a great campus, at some point a medical school and a law school."

David recently visited Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. David received briefings from the 470th Military Intelligence (MI) Brigade on its organization, intelligence capabilities and operation.

Bowl season officially kicked off yesterday as Rutgers defeated Central Florida and Wyoming won a double overtime thriller against Fresno State.
SMU will be the first Texas team to play in a bowl game, as they travel to play Nevada in the Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve.

We have a poll up over at our College Football Challenge website asking which of Texas' bowl-bound schools have the best fans.
So far Texas A&M leads with 42%, followed by Texas at 16% and Houston at 11%.

David recently told the Dallas Morning News he "wouldn't support a tax increase to fund the state's exploding transportation needs."
"I'm not going to call for a huge increase in taxes in the middle of a recession," Dewhurst said.
David will be asking the Senate to come up with a different set of proposals, which you can read more about in this Empower Texans article "Dewhurst Directs Traffic In Right Direction."
