Arlington to Receive $2 million for At-Risk Youth Center

Great news coming out of Arlington today. The NFL and the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee will each donate $1 million toward building the NFL’s "North Texas Youth Education Town."

This youth center will be built in East Arlington and will include after-school programs, computer labs, athletic facilities and more. Similar centers have been built in 11 other Super Bowl cities.

Heroes Should Be Honored

Kimberly Munley incorporated her military training, and despite being wounded three times by gunfire she was able to take down the shooter during the horrific outburst of violence Thursday afternoon at Ft. Hood. Every soldier in the processing center at Ft. Hood utilized their training that helped save many more lives that could have been lost. These heroes deserve to be honored for their quick response. You can read more here.

Children’s Advocacy Center of Texas To Honor David

David was honored by the Children’s Advocacy Centers Inc. earlier this afternoon at their annual Legislative Award Luncheon. David was given the Legislative Award by CACTX for his outstanding leadership on child protection issues passed in the Texas Legislature. "I am deeply honored to receive this award. Our state's future depends on how we treat our most precious asset, our children," David said upon accepting the award.

Propositions Put Texans First

Texans spoke loudly that they want taxpayer protection, protection of private-property rights, more opportunities for world-class higher education and that we value our veterans' service and sacrifice. Propositions 1 through 11 passed because they put the people of Texas first.
