News from the Comptroller's office today warned that Texas' general revenue nearly matches the Legislature's spending appropriations.
In response to the Comptroller's report, David released the following statement: “We anticipated a slow recovery. That's why we saved $8 (billion) to $9 billion, and we are monitoring this on a monthly basis.If necessary, early next year we have the ability to slow down spending to ensure that lawmakers can balance the budget in 2011 without raising taxes.”

David was one of more than 600 lawmakers and water policy experts in Fort Worth earlier this week to discuss Texas' future water outlook and long-term priorities.
As part of his legislative agenda for the 2011 legislative session, David plans to prioritize water conservation, use-efficiency and eco-preservation legislation.
