Statement on Passage of Federal Health Care Legislation

David released the following statement on passage of federal health care legislation:
"Today's action by Congress is a slap in the face to the clear majority of Texans, and Americans, who demand real health care reform resulting from an open and transparent process and that truly fixes a broken system. Instead, this federal plan costs Texas taxpayers $2.4 billion per year and could force the state to redirect spending away from priority items such as education, public safety and road construction, just to cover the unfunded, unaffordable mandates in this bill. I will continue to fight for affordable, accessible health care that does not increase costs or taxes on hard working Texas families and truly improves the quality of care."

Is there really a hidden clause in this bill that says “No president, congress or any other legislature” can change this bill?
is there anything that can be done about the heathcare reform bill? everyone one i know is compety against it….yet it has passed…..what can be done about this??
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
And please know that WE FULLY SUPPORT a law suit by our state against the obvious unconstitutionality of Obama"care” and the ravages it will ensue upon us if it is not stopped!!!!!!
This is just as you stated, a slap in the face of the Americian people. I pray that over time there will be repeal of the devestating parts of this bill. I see that it is impossible to do what they claim this bill does. If I said I was going to move 15 people into my home, the life style we enjoy will not change at all and my cost will go down everyone would know that I was crazy! This is what this bill is being sold as doing….think about it. Please act quickly and decisively to protect Texans from this travisty.
How soon can we have a bill to defund Washington and provide protection from the mandates in this bill and protection from Federal enforcement of any of these un-Constitututional measures???
I can’t wait to take the smirk off the face of “princess” Pelosi and all her crew that have thrown mud in the faces of our own people and now are bragging about it. I hate the idea that they really think they can MAKE everyone take out an insurance policy (or pay a fine). This is certainly unconstitutional - pretty soon they will tell us what color kleenex we can blow our nose on.
Let’s Roll!!!!!!!
What is Nulification and is that our best route to take?
If we goto court and loose would you faver Suscession?
Are you guys serious?!?!? The bill passed because there are more people that support the bill than don’t support it. The news decides to show the crazy TEA baggers and others that don’t support the bill, but doesnt talk about the millions of people that voted for Obama to become President, knowimg that he was going to reform health care. Health Care Reform benefits more people than it will burden. As chrisitians we should use our resources to help one another, just like christ. Conservatives really blow me in saying they are christians but never want to help their neighbor that might have had to stuggle through unforseen circumstances.
LCH, you clearly didn’t see the public opinion polls. More people opposed ObamaCare than supported it. And people didn’t vote for Obama because he was going to reform health care - they voted for Obama because he made them feel good and because he promised to redistribute wealth.
And the “you guys are christians” attack is totally misguided. Christians should share their resources, of course, but we shouldn’t be forced to by some other system. I would rather choose how to distribute my own income. Besides, I’m convinced that this “reform” will lead to WORSE health care - and I think a lot of Christians don’t believe that ObamaCare will really fix the problems.
Finally, the statement that conservatives never want to help their neighbor is baseless and, in fact, quite incorrect.
Daniel, honestly I have lived with the same phone number for over 23 years and not once have I received a call for or from a polling organization. I’m pretty sure that those polls are the same polls that showed Bush winning the 2000 election after Gore really won (but no need to really go into that)
And I said that people voted for Obama, knowing that he was going to reform health care and that he wanted to pass universal health care. And universal health care is a redistribution of wealth from the insurance companies to the people that will be able to save thousands/millions on health care bills and preventive measures. I knew a man that had a good job and was unable to get health insurance because he was born with asthma and another preexisting condition. He died not to long after not being able to afford medication and other treatments for his illness!!
I understand that you and many others are convinced that reform will lead to worse health care, but that is based on an assumption and not fact. And you know what people say about assumptions???? And please tell me what measures/principles do conservatives believe in that benefit and help people that are not wealthy and the majority race?
I think its best to agree to disagree and see what the outcome is. There is no need for name calling and the other bigotry that has happened in the past few days following the passage of the bill. In the end we are all Americans and we all wants best for ourselves, family and generations to come!
