Federal Balanced Budget Amendment

Posted by Team Dewhurst - Mon, February 15, 2010 at 12:22 PM

Earlier this month David penned an editorial in the Austin American-Statesman discussing the need for a Federal Balanced Budget Amendment. You can read that editorial here.

If you agree with David that out of control Washington spending hurts Texas, then please sign the petition below supporting a Federal Balanced Budget Amendment.

I hope this is a serious proposal and more than just a political statement.

I thought that something like this was already on the books (from H.W. Bush and Clinton years) but was just ignored. I guess making it an amendment makes it harder to ignore.

I am totally in support of a balanced budget amendment to our constitution and get the hogs out of the trough in Washington.

We have been needing a balanced budget constitutional amendment for years. I strongly support what Lt. Gov. Dewhurst recommends, but also we need strong term limits for all congressmen and senators because presently their main interests are power and getting reelected. It appears that they have no interest in preserving the United States of America for future generations. We have too many so called entitlements and that has to be addressed quickly. This greed will take us down if it isn’t stopped. All of us have some degree of this disease in us and we must stop thinking only of ourselves to turn this country back in the direction that the founders had in mind.

I’m signing but getting this through Congress to ever vote on will be harder then pulling chicken teeth, like Pelosi with her two million dollar expenditures that she won’t devulve who or how all her party stayed and blew taxpayer money in copenhagen eating, drinking and partying on our hard earned tax money.
